Mark Foster is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer based in Los Angeles, who is most widely known as the frontman and creative force behind multi-platinum selling band Foster The People. Foster was first introduced to professional music when he joined the Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Chorus from 1994 to 1998 under the tutelage of Ella Lee, Gareth Morell, and acclaimed conductor Robert Shaw. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18 and began working at boutique agency Mophonics, writing scores for film, TV, and commercials. Composing credits include the feature “Little Boy,” directed by Alejandro Monteverde, and shorts “Let Me Go (The Right Way)” and “Division III”.
Foster first achieved commercial success in 2011 with Foster The People’s debut album Torches, featuring RIAA certified Diamond single “Pumped Up Kicks,” which was recently named one of USA Today’s “100 Absolute Best Songs in History.” The band has gone on to release two more full length albums, an EP, and multiple singles. They continued to achieve critical and commercial acclaim, with multiple singles charting at Alternative and Top 40 radio, including multi-platinum hit “Sit Next To Me”. Foster The People has also received nominations for Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and Teen Choice Awards, and headlined festivals across the world. Independently of the band, Mark is an in-demand producer and writer working out of his state-of-the-art studio in Hollywood.
