Deron Johnson

 

Deron Johnson is an award-winning pianist and composer whose work includes scoring for film/TV and trailers for TWC, Blumhouse and HBO. Johnson’s professional career began in 1991 when he was discovered by trumpeter, Miles Davis. He completed three European tours and two American tours with Davis before he died and recorded the keyboards on his last CD Doo-Bop (1992). Johnson then toured and recorded extensively with jazz bassist, Stanley Clarke and alto saxophonist, David Sanborn. In 1996 Johnson began to focus on original projects, along with more touring and recordings with artists including Alanis Morrissette, Boz Scaggs and Seal. His first solo album, Learning to Crawl was released in 2008 and he is currently recording his next album due for release in 2023. Johnson was hired as Head of Music for The Weinstein Company from 2012-2017 and since its launch in 2019 Johnson as Head of Music for QCode Media, a podcast and media company. With his extensive knowledge and passion for emotive storytelling through music, Johnson’s voice and bespoke approach to scoring has him amongst one of the most exciting film composers working today.
