Federico Jusid is a Buenos Aires-born Spanish composer who resides and works between Madrid and Los Angeles. He has written the score for more than 45 feature films and over 21 television series.
His work includes the score for the Academy Award®-winner for Best Foreign Film The Secret in Their Eyes (2009, Dir. by Juan José Campanella), for which he received the nomination for the Spanish Academy Goya Award® for Best Original Score.
Recently he has composed the original music for Pablo Larrain’s film Neruda, widely acclaimed at the 2016 edition of Cannes Film Festival. In 2015 he has composed the soundtrack for three American feature films: Misconduct (Shintaro Shimosawa) with Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins; Kidnap (Luis Prieto) with Halle Berry and The Hunter’s Prayer (Jonathan Mostow) with Sam Worthington.
He has worked with Alberto Iglesias writing additional compositions for the original score of Ridley Scott´s Exodus: Gods and Kings. Other notable scores include Happy 140 (Gracia Querejeta), The Life Unexpected (Jorge Torregrossa), Everybody Has a Plan (Anna Piterbarg) with Viggo Mortensen, The Hidden Face (Andrés Baiz), and more recently Magallanes (Salvador del Solar), Getulio (Joao Jardim), The Ignorance Of Blood (Manuel Gómez Pereira) or Betibu (Miguel Cohan).
He has been awarded with 10 international Prices (Including the IFMCA Award three years in a row for Best Television Score) and has been nominated 11 times.
His original score for the Spanish historical drama Isabel, My Queen, has won several awards, such as International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) Award (in 2013 and 2014) and Reel Music Award (2013 and 2014), the Spanish Television Academy Award (2015). In 2015 he wrote the score for the TV series The Refugees (co-production with BBC International). In 2015 he also won the IFMCA Award again for the original score of Charles, King Emperor, sequel of Isabel, My Queen.
Some of his Original Scores have been published with recognized record labels such as: Varese Sarabande, Fox Music, Sony Classical, Milan Records, Rtve Musica, Kronos Records or BMG.
Jusid shares his film scoring activity with another passion, composing for the Concert Hall. Some of his pieces for the concert hall include Tango Rhapsody, for two pianos and symphonic orchestra, commissioned by the Martha Argerich Project; Enigmas, a theatrical piece for piano and ensemble; Finding Sarasate for piano and violin and La Librería del Ingenioso Hidalgo.
As a piano soloist he has performed around the world in numerous tours in some of the most prestigious theaters in America, Asia and Europe.
